The fall season means a cozy new focus on indoor entertainment, and Espace St-Denis is here to serve. Their fall and early winter lineup is full of exciting shows, spanning a wide array of styles—from circus to rock opera! Here are four shows to put on your calendar.

My Island, My Heart

Quebec circus arts troupe Les 7 Doigts explore the theme of immigration, belonging and city identity in My Island, My Heart. With their renowned mix of acrobatics, theatre, dance and multimedia, this immersive circus cabaret tells the story of a man who moves to Montréal for love but stays long beyond the relationship fizzles out. He finds a new object of affection: the city itself.  found another: a veritable true love for Montreal itself.

Rock of Ages

Welcome back to the ‘80s! Rock of Ages is a rollicking musical featuring hits by Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx and Def Leppard (among others) woven into a tale of stardust dreams. It tells the story of Sherrie Christian, a fresh-faced singer from the Midwest in risk of being swallowed up by the Sunset Strip until she meets club worker Drew. Despite the disruptive intentions of rock god Stacee Jaxx, the lovers set out to take the music world by storm.

Party Québec Issime

No wonder this dinner show has been selling out for 20 years! Here for the first time in Montréal, Party Québec Issime is an immersive night of feasting and festing just in time for holiday get-togethers. Over a meal, you and your gang will be entertained by high-energy antics featuring some 15 singers, dancers and musicians performing over 100 songs. Add outlandish costumes and 180-degree projections on 12 scenes, and this musical journey through the ages (from Janis Joplin to Lady Gaga) will have you singing along.

The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music gets a Québec re-do for this epic adaptation directed by Montréal celebrity Gregory Charles. This emblematic musical will captivate you with a cast of 25-plus actors, singers and dancers, not to mention a live orchestra. They will bring to life the story of the saintly governess Maria and the Von Trapp family, and explore themes of love, family and music in perfect time for the holidays. Immerse yourself in the songs and prepare to be swept away by this new, modernized and colourful interpretation.
